OPEN FORUMS AND SEMINARS TO ADD SPICE TO FILM DEBATES AND DISCUSSIONS

Seminars and Open Forums have always been the specializations of film festivals. 19th IFFK is all set to exhibit a package of exclusive programs for the delegates from 12 to 19 December. Meet the Director, In Conversation with eminent personalities along with Seminars and Open Forums are the programs in schedule as part of the festival.
This year, films will be screened in 11 theaters; Kairali, Sree, Nila, Sreekumar, Sreevishak, Kalabhavan, Dhanya, Nishagandhi Open Theatre and 3 Screens of New theatre respectively.
Meet the Director Sessions will be held on all days in Screen – 3 of New Theatre. Conversation Sessions with Popular directors will be held in Kairali Theatre from 14 December to 17 December from 5 pm onwards.
19th IFFK also hosts ‘In Conversation’ Sessions with eminent film makers. Conversation with Jury Chairman and popular Chinese Director Xie Fie, Marco Bellocchio and Turkish Director Nuri Bilge Ceylan will be conducted on 14th , 15th and 17th December respectively. 

Renowned Sri Lankan Filmmaker Sumitra Peries will give the Aravindan Memorial lecture on ‘Let There be Light’ on 16 December in Kairali Theatre. Seminars on a wide variety of film topics will be held from 13 December to 16 December at Hotel Hycinth. The first seminar will be on: 'Stan Brakhage: The Act of Seeing with One's Own Eyes' by Suranjan Ganguly. The second seminar is scheduled on 14th at 2.30 pm on “New Media and novel distribution methods for cinema” which will be presented by Shri Ujwal Nirgudkar. The third seminar is to be held on 15th from 2pm to 4.45 pm by Anjum Rajabali in two sessions, the first session is on screen adaptations and the second session focuses on gender sensitization at the screenplay level. The fourth seminar will be conducted by Surjoday Chaterjee on 16 December at 2.30 pm which will showcase the Goethe Institute Film Archive collection which consists of over 500 films.
