“I love to think
radical, in the sense that I am against power”, said Italian film maker Marco
Bellocchio. He was speaking in the press meet conducted at Hycinth
International Hotel in accordance with the19th International Film Festival
Kerala. The whole conference revolved around the political scenario in Italy
and the radical movements around the world. They sound radical because they
want to make changes, even though nothing can be changed within a day” added
Bellocchio. On his filmmaking style, he said, “the left idea that prevails in
the Italian film and Music Theater has inadvertently influenced my style. But I
have never been member of any Communist group or party.”
Tawfeek Barhom, lead
actor of the inaugural film Dancing Arabs, who attended the function said,
“Dancing Arabs showcased the real life of Palestinian community.” On questions
about his performance, he said that he was experiencing his own life in the movie.
Responding to a question on the title of the movie, Barhom explained that the
title itself represents the identity dilemma of an Arab living with Jews;
dancing in dual identities. “The movie is not a Pro-Palestine one”, he
concluded. IFFK program director Indu Shrikent and Maryse were also present.
