French package to embellish 19th IFFK

The French package of 19th international film festival Kerala includes a bunch of internationally recognized films, appreciated and reviewed in major film festivals around the globe. The French package features seven films which propagate emotional social cultural and political situations which will be a real treat to the film lovers. Seven films with international recognition and reputation has been included in this package.
Age of panic/ La Bataille de Solferino a film by Justin Triet conceives the micro social problems against the macro body politics of France in a comparatively different narration technique fills the film with documentary style of –energy. The film bagged, Mar del Plata Film Festival, and Best Actor and Paris Cinema International Film Festival, Audience Award. Her film age of paic is acclaimed by the famous critics as one of the best film done by the modern French wave directors.
Bright Days Ahead/Les Beaux Jours by Marion Vernox is a tender comedy romantic film about taking control and enjoy the essence of life at its fullest, in a crazy way by even breaking the rules and expectations. The film had been screened in Toronto IFF, and 
Festival du Film de Cabourg.
Grand Central is a film which deals with the topic which had much social and environment relevance. The film conceives the emotional dilemma of a young smart quick learner, who had tried of different jobs and finnaly ends up working in a nuclear power plant. Under Zlotowski’s talented craft, with much time devoted to day-to-day particulars, the film tells you how the seemingly ironclad rules can be bent by those clever or desperate enough to do so. Together with cinematographer George Lechaptois, Zlotowski creates a series of striking visual contrasts, shooting in smooth, almost clinical HD for the plant interiors and denser, more lyrical 35mm for all other scenes. The film bagged Cannes- Francois Chalais Prize Cabourg Romantic Film Festival-Grand Prix andPrix Lumieres-Prix Special du Jury,Best Actress.
Love Battles/ MesSeances de Lutte , is the movie directed by Jacques Doillon an eminent French director  portrays the sophisticated relationship and confrontation between an unnamed couple. The man and woman embark on a playful exploration which becomes increasingly complicated as it develops. A form of struggle sets in and each fights with their own weapons. The film was much appreciated in various international arenas like Berlinale, Brussels Film Festival.
MichaelKohlhaas is the filmic version of the 19th century historical novel written by German author Heinrich von Kleis, directed by Arnaud Des Pallieres. The film is a faithful reproduction of the original novel, except the space and place  of the plot is changed to France instead of Germany. The epic medevieal period story deals with the highest form of vengeance at the time of feudal decline. The excellent serene cinematography, takes the movie in to another level. It is a classical replication of German romantic era.the film had been screened in almost every international festival screens and bagged a number of internationals awards as well.
Just a Sigh / Le Temps de L'Aventure is the film directed by Jerome Bonnell which says the story of a men and woman who where absolute strangers meet in a train to Paris. Alix and douge where not supposed to meet but they did. The situation made them to fell for each other and the whole journey had changed their life to a new one. With masterful performances by Devos and her acclaimed co-star Gabriel Byrne, Just a Sigh is an imaginative and lushly filmed Parisian romance. Young and versatile director JérômeBonnell tells a real-time story with a particular sense for detail. The film got mass appreciation, recognition and a bunch of awards including Cabourg Romantic Film Festival-Golden Swann (Best Film), Best Actress ,Chicago IFF- Silver Hugo(Best Director),Haifa IFF-Special Mention Award, Magritte Awards, Belgium- Best Supporting Actor
 Another film in the French package is the film “The Nun /La Religieuse, “a film which features the early 16th century in France. Adapted from Diderot’s famous novel, “The Nun” tells about the story of a woman trying to resist imposed religious values and rules revealing the 
imbrute effect of cloistered life. The film mainly concentrates to show the urge for freedom of a woman from a conservative bourgeois family. The movie is directed by Guillaume Nicloux , a respected and reputed French director.
The French package is ornamented with films from different genres which facilitate the festival by gifting an opportunity to the spectators to watch a handful of remarkable French movies.
