The inaugural ceremony of the 19th International Film Festival of Kerala to be held at the Nishagandhi Open Theatre tomorrow at 5pm. The fest will be inaugurated by the Honorable Chief Minister of Kerala, Oommen Chandy, Marco Bellocchio; the eminent Italian Film Director and Screenwriter will be presented the Life Time Acheivement Award in the presence of the renowned film maker Adoor Gopalakrishnan and other dignitaries. The Minister of sports, transport and Cinema, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan will preside the function. Other dignitaries like Minister V S Shivakumar, K Muraleedharan MLA, M A Baby MLA, Mayor K Chandrika will also felicitate the function.
The ceremony will be followed by the screening of the Inaugural Film Dancing Arabs directed by Eran Riklis. The movie is based on a novel written by Sayed Kashuah which holds the same name. Another highlight of the inaugural function is the presence of Tawfeek Barhom, who played the main character ‘Eyad’ in the film.
Interactive sessions like Meet the Director, In Conversation, Open Forums, Seminars, and Exhibitions will be the additional attractions of the festival. With 10 Film Packages comprising around 140 films by eminent film makers from different nations, will be screened in the up coming days. The Inaugural ceremony will mark the beginning of weeklong celebrations in the capital city for all the film lovers.
